Great Books on Yoga
There are so many great books out there about yoga. So, I’ve compiled some of my personal favorites for you!
Comments: The integration of Yin & Yang approaches to the physical practice of yoga are highlighted in this book. Learn the foundations of Meridian Theory as it applies to certain long-hold postures, as well as practice sequences that assist in balancing energy for healing the body/mind.
Comments: I take Erich’s classes and love his meditative style. He has some profound insights into the practice of yoga and his words are truly inspirational. I use a lot of Erich’s sequencing in my own classes — and it is all here in this book!
Comments: An incredible book filled visual poetry and inspiration. Vanda writes from a Master Yogini’s heart. She is now gone, but her insight and wisdom truly shine through in the writing.
Comments: This is my absolute favorite yoga book. I used this as my textbook at Cal State University in my yoga classes. Students find that Donna’s writing is very easy to understand and she brings life to the practice using moving principles, moral guidelines and inspirational stories from her own life. We also use this as our Basic Teacher Training Textbook.
Comments: This book reflects Yoga’s roots inside the Indian culture and is probably the most comprehensive publication on yoga available. Contains over 600 photographs of postures, including “how to” description and benefits. A must read, especially for advanced students.
Comments: This is an wonderful introduction to yoga asanas and spirituality with step-by-step instructions, lots of photos, and some interesting question and answer sections.
