Lorrie Shepard, RYT 500 and certified restorative & therapeutic yoga teacher
Lorrie’s yoga journey beginning in the B.K.S. Iyengar tradition in 2000, swiftly transitioned from tentatively taking her first class to attending as many classes as would fit into her schedule. Eventually, there came a moment when she realized yoga was no longer something she did, it illuminated who she is.
In 2008 Lorrie received her first teacher training certification from YogaWorks, has continued to study with amazing teachers and has gratefully attended intensives and immersions to expand her knowledge of movement, the subtle body, breath, mind, sound — and how they interact. She draws inspiration from the wisdom of Pema Chodran, and has been influenced by many amazing teachers, yoga styles and methods. Actively and always a student, her teachers also include her students, her yoga practice, nature, a myriad of books, and this moment: right here, now.
2010 brought another dimension to her practice and teaching when she co-founded Interactive-Yoga with Brian Yuen, spring-boarding off the workshops they were teaching together including AcroYoga, partner yoga and yoga nidra workshops, and vigorous vinyasa classes. Interactive-yoga was born from a mutual desire to share the teaching of yoga and create space for expansion of the Self. Teaching yoga to U.S. Veterans, yoga to children with autism, leading restorative workshops/classes, and sharing the magic and support of partner, acrobatic, and Thai yoga massage – the healing art practice of meta/loving kindness has cracked Lorrie’s heart wide open. Her classes blend traditional and healing qualities of yoga through the lens of devotion and love. She encourages students to explore, discover and cultivate their potential and bring lightness into their practice and into their lives.
