A plant’s lifeblood is full of healing qualities. A plant’s essence protects it from bacterial and viral infections, bringing oxygen and nutrients to its cells. For use on people, aromatherapy preparations go back thousands of years. Made into compresses, tinctures and used in cooking, the oil of a plant is a simple, yet natural medicine. Trans-dermal application of essential oils is most common. Take a drop or two of oil and rub it into the skin. Because essential oil is soluble with the lipid membranes of cell walls, they have the ability to penetrate, absorb and disburse throughout the body within minutes. Meditate on the effects as it is soaking in. If burning/tingling occurs, you can apply rose ointment (which will soothe the area. The plant essence, when taken in through the nose, moves straight to the olfactory area of the brain, where small cell particles carry helpful medicine. If an allergy does occur (either in the respiratory system or on the skin), apply the oil to the bottom of your feet instead.
